Another camper had brought this to one of the camping trips and we knew we had to get the same exact one. It's incredibly convenient especially if water is not readily available near your camp site. Just fill up a 5 gallon bottle (it will not fit any bottle less than the 5 gallon capacity bottle) with water from the fountain (or lake, ew, but if you must...) and take it back to your campsite. This does well with everything, from washing dishes to washing your hands and brushing our teeth. It is NOT waterproof though, so be sure to put something on the top to cover the red power button. Originally, I had planned on bringing seran wrap, but since I forgot it, I used something even better: a zip lock bag. It's kept my pump from short-circuiting and lasting only 1 camping trip. Please remember to run it only less than 3-5 minutes at a time (as those were the instructions on the box), as it can over-heat and short-circuit. I even taped a large note on the bottle so everyone knows not to over-run the pump or I will go after their wallets...It's easy to assemble, uses 2 big D batteries, and actually doesn't do quite bad in the heat under the sun for 3 days. A little bit about the assembling part though, it can be quite confusing. Once you place the pump into the bottle, do you twist left or do you twist right to tighten it? This is one of those things that literally no MAN/GUY can do it unless they are real detail-oriented and has a "gentle" touch. The guy who brought this to our previous camping trips used a rubber-band to tie it together. Nope. It really just takes a little squinting, a little patience, and little gentleness to tighten the screw onto the bottle. If you over-tighten it, it will loosen. If you don't seat it JUST RIGHT, it won't lock in place like it should. After a few tries, only one person was able to tighten it correctly and quickly. Everyone else's effort is just moot. One thing about it, which is noted on the retail box, is that it may stop or slow down pumping when the bottle's liquid reaches less than 1/4 capacity. Yes, this was sort of inconvenient, as this meant we only have 3/4 bottle to work with, but we dedicated the task of refilling the bottle's water to one of the guys - and they were more than happy to do it. He's happy, I'm happy, everyone's happy. So the 3/4 capacity limit wasn't a huge deal. He probably had to go and refill once or twice a day for a 12-people camping trip. Another thing is that with previous camping trips, I noticed I washed my hands a lot less without this pump just out of laziness, you know. This trip, I'm just using up the water to wash my hands every chance I get because the water is RIGHT THERE next to our camp site.It is now sitting in our garage with our 5-gallon bottle. We take the batteries out after we come back from camping. I have a battery-tester and the battery is still above 90% after one 3 day trip, so I'm pretty pleased. Some people, like us, will pay a little more for convenience. This is one of them. We only bought this for the sole purpose of using it for our camping trips.
