Have yet to try them out, waiting for warmer water in Lake Huron, very excited to try it soon !I'd been interested in picking one of these up since they first released the carbon and fiberglass models, but the pricepoint of those earlier models was discouraging for me to take the gamble on a crazy new watersport toy that I may or may not like... I was so excited to find they made a new model more accessible to most budgets and quickly scooped one up. This thing is SO much fun. I'm an avid SCUBA diver and watersport enthusiast and I was initially really skeptical because I live in the Pacific Northwest where the waters are far darker and more turbid than the crystal clear tropical waters shown in all Subwing's promotional videos; it seemed visibility would be a real limiting factor and that it would be easy to hit an obstacle or hurt myself in our emerald waters... Not the case! The Subwing is towed far slower than videos would have you believe and it is highly responsive even at these slower speeds. (On the boat, we were going about 4mph-- quiet and mellow enough for boat passengers to enjoy their own conversation and a beverage). Underwater, it feels much quicker, but by no means uncontrollable. I can also attest to it working well off of small fishing boats as well. I've taken it out several times in the dark waters of The Puget Sound as well as a few times in different lakes and it has been a blast every time! It's nothing to store, and a cinch to maintain (Just taking the swivel apart from the wings and rinsing everything.). There's no reason in my book that everyone that enjoys being on the water shouldn't have one of these in their watersports arsenal.Note to seller: I do wish Simon and his team would sell some sort of a stainless/titanium swivel to attach between the tow rope and the Subwing lines, so after several barrel rolls the lines don't twist up... And preferably with a quick 'carabiner' style attachment clip. [This is by no means a problem, as you can just roll the opposite direction, but would be a nice option as I for some reason seem to have a bias toward rolling clockwise...]. Awesome product though; thank you, Subwing team!Update! Subwing customer service is amazing and they are sending me another with a apology for the defect! Will update again when revived and I can show pictures!!!Disappointed, It won’t go together properly! I seen the videos years ago when they first came out and always wanted one. (We have the flat lobster dive boards but this looks way more fun!!!) Decided to order this one after seeing amazon sold them now, and the new color orange matches our boat. Was planning on keeping hold of this until august when we go the keys for lobsters season, now I’m glad I didn’t wait and tried it this holiday weekend instead. After multiple attempts it just won’t thread into the right side wing. I thought it was just me but no one could get it and we gave up! I would recommend if ordering for anything in particular to order with enough time to check it out first, the reviews are great so I’m not quite sure what is going on with mine!Bought A SUBWING for my Brothers wedding, it was by far the best gift they got for their wedding....Later i bought 3 SUBWINGS more for myselfAs for watersports its the most spectacular, low effort, low cost device available.I use it hand held on the beach on 1.5 meters deepth with my 5 years old daugther, and I use it behind a boat paired (two SUBWINGS) with my friends. You can effortless cover a greather area than both snorkling and scooba diving and at very small effort. All you need is a SUBWING a mask and a small boat with 5 HP or more. With some experience and using long towlines/ 30 meters you can easily dive 10 meters deep++. (Use fins incase you loose the SUBWING, so you can surface easyer) and during a short time cover a lagre area many kilometers underwater. Dont use it in Murky waters, as you loose your orientationSoo as for Watersports, its maybe the coolest device around, sayed by a a huge Wake/Surf/Waterports/Diving entusiast.RegardsCarl Henrik Aarnæs, NorwayUsed it one time - really fun and easy to use for the whole family. The rope that connected to the "board" broke off while we were using it and we are now unable to return the product. The rope is pretty flimsy and will not be easy to replace. Dont think it was a weight issue as my 12 year old daughter was the one riding when it broke - she is 90 lbs. Would be 5 stars if the rope didn't break. This is very fun, enjoyable underwater or just on the surface behind a boat at LOW speeds.Always wear a ski vest. (Public Service Announcement)For anyone who enjoys the water, this is a MUST. :)We went to the lake and the subwing was amazing. We have friends that couldn't get up on skis or wakeboards but they could do this and loved it. Also with being able to do this sport at such a slow speed people on the boat can just chill(obviously not the spotter or captain) and enjoy the viewSuch a blast. Between tricks, treasure hunting and swimming with the fish this makes everyone happy.Excellent fun. Remarkably easy to use, simply tow at walking speed behind a tender. As no swimming effort involved, can remain beneath surface for a long time flying over the coral and conducting all manner of twists and turns. Only cautionary point is that if the tow boat stops and the subwing is at depth, the user will need to swim to surface with potentially limited breath. Our rule is to only stop to turn tow boat when subwing is on surface.I bought my subwing last year and have used it so much. All of my friends really enjoy it, even the ones that don't like typical higher speed water sport like wakeboarding. The Subwing is well designed and easy to assemble.I absolutely loved exploring the fish and forests of seaweed. I was even able to run on the seafloor like in the video.Wow- I'm stunned these are not more popular! Only good in nice clear water- it's no fun at all in low visibility. But when it's blue it is awesome. It doesn't take long to get the hang of using it with a snorkel, though a clean barrel roll may take a few tries. Easy to assemble and dismantle and to store on the boat. I also found the gopro holder a good buy, but save your money on the rope they sell, any floating line will do. You need around 3 knots speed to work, and no more than 5. It can dive when released so the driver needs to keep on their toes.
